How green is a Sprinter van?
Sprinter vans with modern 2022 diesel engines often get over 20 MPG. Clean-air system vans inject DEF fluid into the exhaust to further lower emissions.

What is DEF fluid?
DEF stands for Diesel Exhaust Fluid, a clear liquid mix of urea and water that gets automatically injected into the exhaust pipe of diesel vehicles to turn NOx gasses (harmful emissions) into nitrogen and water.

This emission reduction technique is called SCR, Selective Catalytic Reduction and has been around in diesel cars, vans and even large trucks since 2010.

How often does a Sprinter need DEF refilling?

Otter Rock
Drive along the shores on the beautiful Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, voted one of the best All American Roads, and enjoy the view from Otters Rock.

Oregon Coast Aquarium / Newport
The aquarium is a short drive from Salem, where you can rent your Sprinter and start your road trip.
In Newport you may like to visit and walk along the sandy beach which is up to 300 feet wide.
BTW, bring your towel and get your feet wet.

Crater Lake National Park
Oregon's best and only national park is home to the deepest lake in the United States and the seventh deepest in the world. 7,700 years ago, Mount Mazama erupted and collapsed leaving behind a 1,930 feet deep crater which is now filled with presint water and has 100 miles of hiking trails with wonderful views from the road around the lake, as well as a nice lodge.

Cape Meares
Check out the wonderful views and the small lighthouse that can be visited free of charge. A small detour to the Octopus tree is also worthwhile.

How many phone chargers does a Sprinter van have?
There are two USB-out phone charger outlets in every seating row of Sprinters built from 2020 on. The driver cabin has an AUX port into the entertainment system, one USB-out plug and a 12V out plug.
