THESE TERMS ALSO FEATURE A BAN ON CLASS AND REPRESENTATIVE ACTIONS ALONG WITH NON-INDIVIDUALIZED RELIEF FOR ALL MATTERS IN COURT OR ARBITRATION, VARIOUS LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS, A CLAUSE COVERING THE JURISDICTION, VENUE, AND GOVERNING LAW OF DISPUTES (EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED), AND REQUIREMENTS TO FOLLOW APPLICABLE LAWS AND REGULATIONS.
Introduction
Sprinter-Rentals (“Sprinter-Rentals”, “we”, or “us”) runs an online van sharing platform linking vehicle owners with travelers and locals who wish to reserve those vehicles. The sprinter-rentals.com van sharing platform can be reached online, including at Sprinter-Rentals.com, and through applications for mobile devices. The Sprinter-Rentals websites, blog, mobile applications, and related services are together called “the Services”. By accessing or using the Services, including by communicating with us or other Sprinter-Rentals users, you consent to follow and be legally bound by these Terms of Service (these “Terms”), regardless of whether you register as a user of the Services. These Terms control your access to and use of the Services and create a binding legal contract between you and Sprinter-Rentals.
These Terms, together with the cancellation policy, nondiscrimination policy, applicable insurance terms and certificates, roadside assistance terms, and the additional policies (together, the “Policies”) make up the “Agreement” between you and Sprinter-Rentals (each a “Party” and together, “the Parties”). In addition, Sprinter-Rentals offers a Van Sharing Agreement that outlines the terms of each reservation between the host and guest at booking and any changes, available in the Services for any booked or past trips, which you may use as evidence of a reservation. Sprinter-Rentals serves as the intermediary for transactions between the traveler or guest booking a vehicle on the Services (“guest”) and the vehicle owner or host listing a vehicle for booking on the Services (“host”).
Modification. Sprinter-Rentals holds the right, in our sole discretion, to update the Services or adjust the Agreement, including these Terms, whenever we choose. If we change these Terms, we will display the update on the Services. We will also refresh the “Last Revised” date at the top of these Terms. Continuing to access or use the Services after we post a modification or notify you of one shows that you accept the updated terms. If the revised terms do not suit you, your only option is to cease using and accessing the Services and close your Sprinter-Rentals Account within 30 days. If you decide to close your Sprinter-Rentals Account, the prior effective version of these Terms will govern you, unless you use the Services in the 30-day period, in which case the updated version of these Terms will apply.
Eligibility, registration, verification
Eligibility. The Services are designed only for guests meeting our eligibility criteria in the area where the vehicle is reserved and for hosts who are 21 or older. Any use of the Services by individuals not meeting these eligibility standards is strictly forbidden.
Registration. To use certain features of the Services, you need to register for an account with us (a “Sprinter-Rentals Account”). You can set up a Sprinter-Rentals Account by supplying your first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, and creating a password or linking via an account with a third-party site or service (including Apple and Google). When booking a vehicle as a guest, you supply us with certain extra details about yourself. Likewise, when listing a vehicle as a host, you provide us with additional information about yourself and your vehicle(s) (if relevant). You must supply accurate, current, and full information during registration, booking, and/or listing. You must maintain your Sprinter-Rentals Account current at all times. Depending on the information you share, Sprinter-Rentals might add further requirements for you to book a trip or before a trip begins (e.g., providing a deposit, authorizing your payment method, adding a second form of payment, purchasing a certain level of protection plan, or other conditions).
Verification. Where allowed, Sprinter-Rentals has the right, though not the duty, to perform screenings, checks, and processes meant to (1) assist in verifying user identities or reviewing backgrounds, including driving records and driver’s license validity, and (2) confirm vehicle details. Sprinter-Rentals does not support any vehicle, user, or a user’s background, nor promise to carry out any particular screening. Sprinter-Rentals may, at its sole discretion, employ third-party services to check the data you give us and to gather extra related information and corrections if needed, and you authorize Sprinter-Rentals to request, receive, use, and keep such information. Sprinter-Rentals may approve or deny your request to book or list a vehicle in its sole and absolute discretion. Sprinter-Rentals may, but is not required to, make efforts to promote the safety of vehicles shared via the Services. We do not make representations about, verify, or endorse the safety, roadworthiness, or legal status of any vehicles shared through the Services. Instead, hosts bear full responsibility for ensuring their vehicles are safe and operational, legally registered for public roads, hold a clean title (e.g., non-salvaged/non-branded/non-washed/non-written off), are free from applicable safety recalls, and meet our vehicle eligibility requirements.
Consumer report authorization. When you try to book or list a vehicle, or anytime afterward if Sprinter-Rentals reasonably thinks there may be higher risk with your Sprinter-Rentals Account, you give Sprinter-Rentals written instructions and authorize us, under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, applicable consumer reporting laws, or similar laws, to obtain your personal and/or business auto insurance score, credit report, and/or perform a background check, including a criminal background check where permitted by law.
Fees, taxes
Fees. The fees we charge for the Services and other cost structures appear itemized at checkout for guests. You can confirm the total for your trip at checkout before sending your request. Hosts can check earnings in the Host Hub and review more about the earnings breakdown here. When you give Sprinter-Rentals a payment method, you authorize Sprinter-Rentals, or third-party providers acting for Sprinter-Rentals, to keep your payment details for future use if you owe Sprinter-Rentals any funds. You authorize Sprinter-Rentals to apply stored payment credentials for balances, including Trip costs, host fees, and guest fees (e.g., late fees, security deposits, card authorizations, processing fees and claims costs, and related administrative fees). In some situations, our payment processors work with card networks to update stored payment credentials automatically when you get a new card (e.g., replacing an expired card or one reported lost or stolen), and we will use such updates for balances. If we try to issue a refund and the original payment method is unavailable, we may issue travel credit instead of refunding to the original method. Any use of travel credit follows the terms and conditions outlined here. Sprinter-Rentals may provide promotional codes occasionally, subject to the offer terms and conditions outlined here.
Collection of fees. Sprinter-Rentals and its service providers will use all legal methods to collect owed amounts, including collection agencies or legal counsel. Sprinter-Rentals, or retained collection agencies, may report details about your Sprinter-Rentals Account to credit bureaus. Consequently, late payments, missed payments, or other defaults on your Sprinter-Rentals Account may appear in your credit report. Besides the owed amount, delinquent accounts or chargebacks will include fees and/or charges related to collection, including but not limited to collection fees, convenience fees, and/or other third-party charges. If you want to challenge information Sprinter-Rentals reported to a credit bureau (i.e., Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion).
Taxes. In some jurisdictions, Sprinter-Rentals may handle the collection and remittance of certain taxes from or for guests or hosts, per current and future tax rules, including marketplace facilitator or van sharing regulations. Any taxes collected and remitted by Sprinter-Rentals will show clearly and separately to guests and hosts on their trip documents and invoices. Where Sprinter-Rentals manages tax collection and remittance, hosts may not collect those same taxes on the Services for their vehicle sharing in that jurisdiction.
Your commitments
You agree to always use your Sprinter-Rentals Account and the Services according to these Terms, applicable law, and any other policies and standards from Sprinter-Rentals.
Account Activity. You alone are responsible for all activity on your Sprinter-Rentals Account. Protect your Sprinter-Rentals Account details, including your password. You agree not to share your password with anyone and to take full responsibility for activities or actions under your Sprinter-Rentals Account, even if authorized. You will promptly inform Sprinter-Rentals of any actual or suspected unauthorized use of your Sprinter-Rentals Account. We are not liable for your failure to meet this requirement or for delays in securing your Sprinter-Rentals Account unless you reported unauthorized access.
Content
Sprinter-Rentals Content and User Content License. Subject to your adherence to these Terms, Sprinter-Rentals gives you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view any Sprinter-Rentals and/or user content you may access, only for your personal and non-commercial use. You may not sublicense these license rights. No other licenses or rights are granted by implication or otherwise under intellectual property owned or controlled by Sprinter-Rentals or its licensors, except those expressly stated in these Terms.
User Content. We may, in our sole discretion, allow you to post, upload, publish, submit, or send content via the Services, such as photos of you and your vehicle(s), reviews, feedback, and descriptions of you, your vehicle, or trip. By sharing any content on or through the Services, or via Sprinter-Rentals promotional campaigns, you grant Sprinter-Rentals a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual (or for the protection term), non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free license, with sublicensing rights, to use, view, copy, adapt, modify, distribute, transfer, publicly display, publicly perform, transmit, stream, broadcast, access, and otherwise exploit such content on, through, or to promote the Services. Except as noted above regarding Sprinter-Rentals photography for hosts, Sprinter-Rentals claims no ownership in such content, and nothing here limits your rights to use and exploit it.
Copyright Protection. We address notices of claimed copyright infringement and end Sprinter-Rentals Accounts of repeat infringers per the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act and similar laws. If you believe a user is infringing your copyright(s) and wish to notify us, details on submitting notices are available here.
Google terms. Certain parts of the Services use Google Maps/Places mapping services, including Google Places API. To combat spam and abuse, Sprinter-Rentals uses reCAPTCHA Enterprise, a Google service. Using the Services binds you to Google's Terms of Service.

Other legal matters
Violations. Sprinter-Rentals has the right, but not obligation, to investigate, pursue, and seek to prosecute, litigate, or refer violations of the Agreement to law enforcement to the fullest extent of the law.
Sprinter-Rentals reserves the right, anytime without notice and per applicable law, to remove or disable content it deems objectionable, violating these Terms, or harmful to the Services or community. If we suspect abuse of Sprinter-Rentals, users, or others, or violation of these Terms, we may, at sole discretion and without limiting remedies, limit, suspend, or terminate your Sprinter-Rentals Account and Services access, remove content, deny damage claims, remove or lower listings, reduce discounts, and take technical or legal steps to block Services use. If listings are priced artificially high versus market or recommended prices, or in France if cancellation rates exceed policy, we may restrict listings or remove you. We also reserve the right to deny or end access for anyone, for any reason, to the full extent of law.
Policy enforcement. When issues occur, we may review user history and circumstances when applying Policies. We may apply leniency to do the right thing, at our sole discretion.
Communications with you. You agree Sprinter-Rentals may reach you electronically (e.g., email, in-app messaging, app notifications) instead of mailed notices. For efficiency, we may use autodialed or prerecorded calls or texts at your phone number(s). We will not use them for marketing. Such calls or texts may confirm signup, notify about your Sprinter-Rentals Account or activity, investigate fraud, collect debts, or send urgent messages. We may share your phone number(s) with contracted service providers for these purposes but not with third parties for their own uses without consent. Cancel SMS opt-in anytime by replying “STOP”. For messaging issues, reply “HELP”. Standard charges may apply. Message frequency varies. For privacy questions, see our privacy policy. Where consent is needed, you may revoke it. You agree to contact on any day or time for these purposes.
You authorize Sprinter-Rentals and providers, without notice, to monitor or record phone calls or web chats with us or agents for quality, training, or other reasons. You understand communications may be overheard, monitored, or recorded. To avoid recording, contact us in writing via Sprinter-Rentals.com. Avoid chat if you do not want monitoring.
Insurance and protection plans. Sprinter-Rentals is not an insurance company and does not insure hosts or guests. Host and guest protection plans through the Services are separate. Eligibility for protection plan benefits requires compliance with these Terms. Protection plans are offered via the Services only in the United States and Germany. Refer to specific terms for guests and hosts below for more details based on your use.
Specific terms for guests
The following also apply if you book a vehicle via the Services:
Guest commitments. As a guest, you commit to being a legally licensed driver and providing proof of a current, valid driver’s license to the host or via the Services. You will treat the vehicle and any Extras carefully and take reasonable steps to return them on time and in basically the same condition received. You will not permit anyone except Approved Drivers listed in trip details to drive the booked vehicle.
No right of withdrawal. For guests in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, there is no withdrawal right for transactions on the Services, as it does not apply to transport or dated services. Your rights are in the cancellation policy. Guests may modify selected protection plans before reservation start.
Guest financial responsibility for physical damage to the vehicle. The primary guest who booked is financially responsible for all physical damage or theft during the trip, plus related costs and fees, regardless of fault. This holds whether the primary guest has personal auto insurance. Primary guests may claim under their own policies. When booking, you agree to work with Sprinter-Rentals on claims under applicable insurance if damage occurs. The primary guest can reduce out-of-pocket amounts for damage by selecting a protection plan on the Services. Limitations apply only if the primary guest and Approved Drivers follow these Terms and to non-mechanical or non-interior physical damage. Change protection plans via 'modify trip' for unstarted reservations. See additional terms for Guest protection plans in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe.
Auto liability insurance and legal liability protection. Hosts cannot provide liability insurance. US trips include coverage under an automobile liability policy issued to Sprinter-Rentals Hosts by independent providers. We do not defend or indemnify Sprinter-Rentals claims. See additional US insurance terms. Personal auto policies are primary over trip-provided coverage, depending on laws, booking location, and incident site. For professional use, trip coverage is excess.
Use of the vehicle. Booked vehicles must be for personal or professional use, not commercial purposes needing a commercial license, unless approved in writing by Sprinter-Rentals Legal Department or as described here. Access only at trip start time and return on time to the correct spot. Present a current valid driver’s license. Exercise reasonable care and operate safely per all laws, including speed limits and no impaired or distracted driving. Sprinter-Rentals may end a trip anytime if concerned and require vehicle return, including recovery. Wear seat belts and ensure passengers do too. Comply with child safety seat laws. Do not leave van unlocked or keys unsecured. Avoid prohibited uses. Misuse makes you fully responsible for claims, loss, or damage, and may void protection plans. Prohibited use or breaches may reduce liability to minimums, nullify coverage, and void comprehensive/collision protection where allowed.
Telematics notice and release. Booked vehicles may include monitoring features or devices tracking vehicle state. Non-personal data may cover condition, damage, performance, mileage, acceleration, location, etc. (“Vehicle Data”). Use follows manufacturer or provider terms, which may limit systems, warranties, liability, privacy, etc. Unless law prohibits, you authorize Vehicle Data use or disclosure and must inform Approved Drivers and passengers. You release the host and agree to indemnify host, device operators, carriers, and suppliers from damages arising from feature or device use or failure.
Condition of the vehicle and optional Extras. Vehicles and Extras are owned by third parties. Hosts must meet legal requirements and keep vehicles safe and roadworthy. Inspect visually before use. Upload photos of pre-existing damage at reservation start as described here to avoid responsibility. Unreported initial damage may be assumed to occur during your period. If unsafe, do not drive—contact Sprinter-Rentals or host immediately via messaging.
No responsibility for shared vehicles or personal belongings. Sprinter-Rentals is not responsible for safety, roadworthiness, or legal status of shared vehicles. Hosts alone ensure vehicles are safe, registered, not stolen, clean titled, recall-free, and eligible. Neither Sprinter-Rentals nor hosts are liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property in vehicles during trips.
Incident reporting. Report any damage immediately here. In the US, report collisions to police and always complete an incident report. Gather witness evidence and provide descriptions and info to Sprinter-Rentals or administrators. Cooperate in investigations. After major damage, do not continue use without permission. Failure to report or cooperate may reduce or void protection.
Vehicle theft. Certain conduct may lead to reporting the vehicle as stolen, with possible arrest, penalties, and voided protection:
- Failing to return at agreed time and place or by reservation end without proper extension or due to payment issues.
- Returning to wrong location.
- Misrepresenting facts about booking, use, or operation.
- Leaving interior components or vehicle vulnerable when unlocked or unattended.
- Failing to communicate or cooperate in investigations.
- Operating with false info or invalid license.
Primary guest covers private investigation costs for recovery and a $500 administration fee if reported stolen.
Repossession. Sprinter-Rentals, agents, or host may repossess without demand at guest expense if not returned, illegally parked, abandoned, or used illegally.
Missing Vehicles. If a booked vehicle goes missing or is stolen, immediately return keys, file police report within 12 hours of discovery, and cooperate fully.
Specific terms for hosts
The following apply if you share your vehicle via the Services:
Host commitments. As a host, commit to providing a safe, legally registered and insured vehicle with current plates, clean title, and good mechanical condition. Provide it on time only to listed Approved Drivers. Do not collect extra guest info beyond license verification, including personal auto insurance. Do not use Services-provided guest info for additional data like background checks. Ensure listings are accurate and honor representations, including price. Do not require upgrades or cancel for higher prices. Offer only owned or authorized vehicles not restricted by leases or agreements. Confirm sharing does not violate lienholder terms. Offer only safe, clean Extras. Avoid vehicles with stolen reports, unresolved recalls, or illegal modifications. Remove weapons beforehand. Repay business loans on time. Grant limited power of attorney for toll or third-party account access when directing Sprinter-Rentals.
Vehicle information given at listing; listing conditions. Identify passenger vehicle(s) meeting requirements here. Provide accurate license plate and VIN. Use only vehicles you own or have rights to share for compensation. Comply with tracking and technology device rules if equipped. Relevance ranking uses guest parameters, location, details, price, ratings, commitment, All-Star status, and listing matches. No paid ranking or sponsored listings.
Listing only on the Services. In the United States, vehicles listed must be exclusive to the Services. No listings on other van sharing marketplaces. Violations may cause fines, claim denials, removal, closure, or other actions at Sprinter-Rentals’s discretion. Learn more here.
Sprinter-Rentals photography. Sprinter-Rentals may provide photographers for vehicle and/or host images (“Images”). You are responsible for their use in listings and must stop if inaccurate. Sprinter-Rentals owns or exclusively licenses all IP rights in Images. You waive royalties or moral rights. Do not use Images elsewhere. Assist with documents to perfect rights upon request.
Vehicle availability. Make vehicle available or deliver as expected once booked. Provide accurate persistent location info if offered for pickup. Verify driver’s license for protection plan eligibility.
Pricing, earnings, and payments. Set and revise pricing freely. Sprinter-Rentals pays collected amounts minus fees. Deduct owed amounts from earnings, debit accounts, charge methods, or invoice.
Payment Processing. In some countries, Stripe provides services under Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe Services Agreement (“Stripe Terms”). Agree to be bound by them. Sprinter-Rentals is not liable for Stripe errors. Authorize access to your Stripe account. Provide accurate info and updates. Sprinter-Rentals may change vendors.
Airport delivery; personal vehicle sharing regulations. Some airports may require permits and fees. Sprinter-Rentals does not believe rental van permits apply to peer-to-peer sharing, but authorities may differ. Learn more here. Personal vehicle sharing laws may apply. More info here.
Maintenance. Regularly inspect for defects. Keep vehicle safe, roadworthy, mechanically sound, and compliant with inspections and registration. List only clean-titled vehicles. Address recalls before booking. Sprinter-Rentals may remove non-conforming vehicles. Learn eligibility requirements here.
Co-hosting tools and hosting teams. Co-hosting tools help organize Co-hosts into teams for vehicle management. “Co-host” includes anyone assisting, and “Co-hosting services” means their support.
Hosting teams permissions. Adding a Co-host warrants they are authorized to act and bind you per granted permissions. You are responsible for set permissions.
Obligations of hosts and Co-hosts. You are responsible for your acts and, to the extent allowed, Co-host acts. Comply with applicable laws, which may require permits or classify Co-hosts as employees. Hosts and Co-hosts are not Sprinter-Rentals employees. Ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and insurance.
Relationship of hosts and Co-hosts. Agreements between them do not create relationships with Sprinter-Rentals. No conflicting agreements. Sprinter-Rentals does not mediate disputes and disclaims related liability.
Termination of Co-hosting services; effect. Remove or self-remove Co-hosts anytime. Sprinter-Rentals may remove for missing documentation. You remain responsible for prior Co-host actions.
Reporting vehicle damage. If not declining a protection plan, report damage promptly (within 24 hours of trip end) and cooperate for eligibility. Follow process here. Investigation determines occurrence and coverage. Prompt notice and cooperation required; otherwise coverage may be declined. For additional damage in US/Canada, request supplemental payment here.
Auto liability insurance and legal liability protection. US trips cover hosts under third-party policies issued to Sprinter-Rentals hosts.
Physical damage to your vehicle. Protection plans address financial impacts of physical damage during trips, subject to terms and exclusions for collisions and comprehensive events. For total loss payments, transfer title or accept salvage reduction at Sprinter-Rentals discretion, per law. Plans exclude optional extras, personal property, aftermarket items, normal wear and tear. Violation of Agreement, Terms, or Policies, or inaccurate listing info voids protection even if unrelated to damage. Maintain registration and insurance. Provide policy info when requested. Appoint Sprinter-Rentals as attorney-in-fact for claims and recovery where allowed.
Missing vehicles. If protected and vehicle missing or stolen, contact Sprinter-Rentals immediately, cooperate, and file police report within 24 hours if instructed.
Indemnification of host. If protected, Sprinter-Rentals or insurers will defend and indemnify per policy terms and law, subject to compliance, notice, control, and cooperation. Reimburse Sprinter-Rentals for third-party recoveries.
